Bonneville release the infectious, funky and strikingly anthemic new single ‘Beautiful One’, taken form their hotly anticipated upcoming second album ‘Flying Machine’
Known for their infectious retro-soul and funky R&B sound, Bonneville has solidified their place in the music scene with a unique blend of the classic soul grooves infused a contemporary flair. Their latest single, ‘Beautiful One’, is no exception, as it delivers a grooving, feel-good summer feel whilst also carrying a poignant message about the club scene and selfie-culture.
Retaining a retro-soul undertone, ‘Beautiful One’ seamlessly works in elements of funk, post-disco, and pop to capture a Jamiroquai-esque style, complete with some virtuoso acid-jazz guitar lines for good measure. Talking about the songs style, band member and co-songwriter Jeff Hayashi explains: “This is our take on a club track. It’s a banger, a head-bopper, and an all-around party jam, but upon closer inspection has a deep message of introspection and outward observation.”
Lurically, ‘Beautiful One’ offers a thought-provoking commentary on modern societal trends, particularly the pervasive influence of social media and the quest for validation through online interactions. Co-songwriter Wes McGee reflects on the inspiration behind the song, stating, “Thematically, it is a commentary of the ‘pick me culture’ in dating and in society, in general. Often, real connections are missed due to the epidemic of self-obsession.”
To bring their vision to life, Bonneville enlisted the expertise of Grammy-recognized producer Starita, whose collaboration on ‘Beautiful One’ helped shape the song’s production into a modern yet soulful masterpiece. Starita remarks on the evolution of Bonneville’s sound, stating, “The songwriting and production are steering toward a more modern sound while still preserving the classic soul and funk Bonneville is known for.”
With a talented lineup of musicians and producers, including band members Jeff Hayashi, Wes McGee, Andy Dixon, Brad Kuhn, and Justin Holder, alongside Starita and recording engineer Wes Sheffield, ‘Beautiful One’ showcases the collective artistry and collaborative spirit behind Bonneville’s music.
